Coors Light-Avalancha
A huge chunk of snow and ice shears off the face of a mountain high in the Rockies, triggering a massive avalanche. As the avalanche gains momentum, massive ice chunks are thrown forward from the mass of snow. At the moment when it looks like the cameraman is about to be engulfed by the onrushing snow, the camera pulls out dramatically, revealing that the majestic mountain range and avalanche is in fact ice chips on the top of a Coors Light can. This sight gag works tremendously and the spot is completely photo-real - although every single element was 3D!This sequence was the brainchild of Bromley Communications San Antonio. Ron Landreth - Creative Director and Magaly Chocano - Agency Producer teamed up with Buzz’s extreme team for this remarkable simulation and 3D piece. Robert Moodie – Technical Director, Etienne Laroche – 3D Team Lead, 3D artists - Richard Clement-Tam, Guillaume Champagne, Guillaume Pelletier, Fabrice Vienne, Marc André Poulin, Francois Croteau and David Thibodeau made the magic happen, along side André U Montambeault – Director, VFX Producer Ashlee Wismach and Executive VP Benoit Drouin.
Robert says “It's ironic that the spot was an avalanche, we had Real Flow Fluid simulations with Softimage Rigid Body Dynamics and particle simulations all running together to create the effects. It did feel at times like would be buried under the amount of data but the team did a great job and created a picture perfect effect. ”
